Kit to match my speakers

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I have an old all in one system and my daughter decided to destroy the speakers (she's 18 months...) so I replaced them with Tannoy Mercury F1s as they were highly reviewed. And a big difference they made too! Only now I want a better system to go with them, so my question is should I buy the best amp I can afford (up to around 350 pounds) or would that be wasted given the speakers were only around 100 pounds? Is there a point at which more expensive amps stop making a difference?

I want to keep the speakers as they were a present from my wife!

Thanks,

Chris

They'll work well alright, but there is a point where they will be outclassed. I think up to £350 you should be okay and hang on to the F1s - at the worst they can become 2nd system speakers for the bedroom for example. By the by, Superfi have the Audiolab 8000s for £299 off £500. Very nice amp, good power and the option to add a power amp in time (preferably when the little one's not working her way through your hifi!).
