I cannot see the advantage to be honest. One of the nice things about the 3g keyboard model is the web browser works with 3g so I can read my email for free when I am on holiday. They have changed this on the touch model so that it only works with wireless and you have to use a touch screen keyboard - all for £20 more ( and you have to pay extra for a charger which is free with the keyboard model).

No worries BB :)

May as well use this thread now. I know you posted about the Fire so what are your thoughts? I googled a bit last night and Amazon are remaining very tight-lipped, as usual. Probably looks like we'll have to wait til the end of the year for the Fire 2? I know someone with a US import Fire and it's a nice bit of kit, not as good as the iPad as one would expect for the price, but obviously lacking in functionality due to having no apps.

My gf has a standard kindle and having had a play the clunky use of buttons would send me mad after being used to an iPhone. So the Touch would be an improvement but I tend to agree with Chebby re the colour screen and 3G seems a bit pricy and unnecessary when all you can do is download books.

I too suspect the Kindle Fire may never come officially on this side of the Atlantic. Kindle Fire should most likely get a launch here before Christmas. No idea why they're delaying it.

Personally, I would prefer the touch screen interface instead of buttons. 3G is a bit pricy, but this same functionality will be useful when you want to download a book while you're on holiday & there's no wifi network. You won't pay for the data.

Can't remember the details, but I think the speculation was some sort of difficulties with the app service.

True, although with space for 3,000 books I think if I had wifi only I'd probably fill it with enough books to cover me for a holiday!
