KEF KHT3005SE vs MS Alumni speakers

Hi guys
I'm thinking of upgrading my speaker system.
Have any of you upgraded from Mordaunt Short Alumni to KEF KHT3005SE. If so have you noticed a substantial difference in the sound quality. I'm using an Onkyo TX-SR605.

Went to audition the KEFs today and decided to buy, tried them with a 606 but then the dealer brought out the new Pioneer VSX-LX51. It was awsome! What to do eh? My missus wasn't best pleased with the news that I'd just spent nearly 2 grand on some new speakers and amp, especially when the old ones were "perfectly servicable and only 11 months old". Still, got the amp, 7.1 speaker system and a pair of stands for £1950. Not bad. Think I might've rushed into the amp purchase though.
Any thoughts guys?
Just need to sell the other bits now.
