Kef KHT2005.3 - Which amp?

Hi all,

This has maybe been asked before but I have just joined this forum and a newbie to this.

I am looking at a speaker package and amp to go with my PS3, Virgin+ and sony 52w4000 LCD.

My living room is around 4m width and 5m length.

I am been very tempted at the KHT2005.3 for some time now based on the reviews, price and styling. Main purpose of the set up is home cinema alongside music and gaming.

My budget incl cables etc is £900max. My initial and most obvious thoughts were:

• Onkyo 606
• Sony 2400ES
• Yamaha 763 or 863
• Denon 1909

After speaking to various sales advisors (sevenoaks & RS) on this they have given me variations of advice so I am now uncertain what to go for. Asking for a demo is at times quite difficult with some shops as well.

Your comments would be most appreciated.

Any of those amps should work pretty well with the KEFs, though if music is important I would probably put the Onkyo at the bottom of the list of preference and the Sony or the Yamaha at the top.

Any shop that won't do you a demo isn't worth buying from in my opinion. So long as you phone in advance and book a session in, there shouldn't be any reason why a demo would present them with any difficulty.
