KEF KHT 2005.3 center upgrade to KEF HTC 3001SE

Hi I can get a nice deal on the HTC 3001SE, I want to use it for the center channel for the KHT 2005.3 set as I am not happy with the looks of this center speaker, and the 3001SE has tiny better specs then the 2005.3 center, but what will this do to the total sound experience? I am using the 2005.3 with a denon 1910 receiver.

With a speaker the real question is how it will sound with your system and in your viewing room. Every situation is different. Accoustics of the room play a very important part in the sound.

If possible ask for a demo in your home and then make up your mind.

Not possible, guess I have to order and try it out I guess. As they are both from KEF and from a KHT series I'm guessing it wont sound that different. The 3001SE center is a tad bigger http://www.kef.com/GB/SurroundSound/Satellite/HTC3001SE then the good old egg one http://www.kef.com/GB/SurroundSound/Satellite/HTC2001.3 (suppose this is the 2005.3 series center)

Hi Bjorn,

Welcome to the forum. It is a common upgrade to change the centre on a 2005 set for the 3001 centre. It is one I have on the list to do but have not as yet done. I do find the 2005 centre lacking when it comes to dialogue and if you have a good deal, but cannot demo, then I do not think you will be disappointed if it is vocal clarity on movies you are after.

Was hoping some one had it but if it is a common upgrade I guess I wont be disappointed, cen get the center for 150euro so I guess I might just do it then. If it is a disappointment I might just as well use it as a center rear lol (can hear the wife screaming already) dunno how to connect it to the denon 1910 as it doesnt have a center rear connection afaik.

My friend has done this upgrade...........it gave good improvements to the sound quality, and dialogue....

He has now added a pair of KEF iQ5SE speakers too, which again has improved the 2 channel SQ dramatically.....

At Euro 150 ,it is a no brainer.It's a minimum of £199 here.
