We want your feedback on our technology brands, What Hi-Fi? and Stuff, so to tell us what you think about both the magazines and websites, and how you'd like to see them develop in future, please sign up for our reader tech panel.

All you have to do is go to www.techpanel.co.uk, register on the site and answer a series of simple questions. This is your chance to tell us a bit about yourself, the kind of products you own and and give us your opinions on a variety of technology topics.

Your feedback will be invaluable in how we shape our magazines and websites in the future, so we really appreciate you taking the time to help us and tell us what you do and don't like.

Participants will be asked to take part in a quick poll each week, and there will be discussion threads where you can discuss certain topics in more detail. You'll also be able to let the big technology companies know what you think.

Don't delay, join up today and become part of the community that will help develop the world's best technology magazines and websites.

I have read it (and replied) chrisr1718, which is precisely why we are setting up the reader tech panel to get more feedback and help shape the magazine and website in the future.

Well I sort of got there but when I realised the needed all but my inside leg measurements I bailed out. Why tell anyone your house is stuffed full of nice stuff and then give them your address? The next question would be ' when are you out of town?'

Totally agree, even though I did complete the registration. *fool*

Sorry. I can't bring this portal you linked us to work properly. For my case, they are responses that are not available and texts that don't appear.

Although, it looks like a simple market research form for me. I'm concerned about the fact that you seem to believe that the experience of somebody is based about the amount of magazines he's reading. Add to that, a typical "yeah trust us, we wil ward your data properly blabla" and I'm out. Good luck with your magazine. But as already mentionned, if you read your own forum, you will know what is lacking.

Doh!

Think I might persevere but give a false address, something like Buckingham Palace should do. 🙂

I think a simple 'Are you a techophobe?' would have been sufficient.

No problem with the link here apart from what it led you to.

Agree if you need to improve website and magazine just read your own forum. Surely it's there for you as much as us.

+1

I just tried registration and the software craps out if you only subscribe to one hifi magazine then go on to rank it in the following question where it will refuse all options 1, 2 or 3 with the message "Minimum count of answers in each column cannot be less than 1". (Obviously it is only meant for people who take 3 or more magazines.)

So I lied (to get past the glitch) and it does the exact same thing with websites.

Obviously well thought out, if you only read one you cannot possibly answer the next page. Good eh? Wonder if the same people developed WHFSAV latest website?

I think we should be told. 🙂

The only part I felt the need to lie about was my address but if you cannot get that far then you needn't worry.

'Answer a series of simple questions', well if you can that is.

I say I am from Tongo on the question on the members setup. *smile*

I don't know why people are paranoid giving out their addresses though. What have you done wrong then??

For example it there were a classified section wouldn't you buy or sell anything just because you don't want to give out your address?

I believe it is a serious problem, especially in certain circle, such as the bike selling fraternity. You advertise something worth thousands of pounds and people are on the look out for this, and readily break into people garages and take what they are after. Websites dont ask you to supply your address but you arrange with prospective buyers where to meet. I once in error gave somebody I didnt know my address and got rather worried for some time that they could be "scoping my joint". After that I always now agree to meet away from my home.

The information we are gathering is only for our own internal purposes, we are not intending to pop round and burgle anyone's house. Honest.

You just have to select the 'never' column for the other titles if you don't read them or subscribe.

Fair point.

Yes I know.

It's the following question that fails.

So I select 'never' for all the other websites except What Hifi? (As you suggested.)

Then on the next question I rank it as number 1 (it's the only one) ...

24147959424_31d4434eb7.jpg

.. I get the same failure whether I rank it as 1, 2 or 3. So I have to go back to the previous question and lie by giving it three magazines or three websites.

The fact is that I buy and read just one mag every month (Hi-fi News) and use just one website of those listed. If I have to fabricate details just to trick a registration then there isn't much point in continuing.

You would be best not giving out your address by making it available to who knows just as you don't willingly give full address in a classified ad. You're mental if you do. Normally a contact number and area is sufficient.

Cheers for the advice.

Hmm. No cheese will be given by The Monitoring Panel for completing a maze... I mean survey.

Are there any prizes for filling out the survey?

That should be replaced by Haymarket I guess. That's the default term from Toluna surveys (their site www.themotoringpanel.com is broken BTW).

I don't want to join a 'panel' but the top bar seems to jump around again, after not having done that for a while unless I'm wrong which is clearly possible from past experience ... .

Someone seems to have unfixed it!

Please fix it again, thank you almighty fixer-upper from a far away country (like india).
