Hello

My coverflow has got into a mess with multiple covers for one album(not comps) but normal albums and also out of sequence i.e van morrison albums not all grouped together,any help in tidying this mess up much appreciated.

Yup. Usually it's because an album has tracks on it that, when it picks up the metadata, has different artists for some of them (like Such and such featuring somebody else) - big problem with compilations where the tags have the correct artist for each track, for example. You can often sort this by just making sure the artist field says the same thing for each track, but if this isn't practical (see above) you can select all the tracks in one album, right click/get info/options - select "Part of a compilation" - this should sort it out.

Also, make sure eg your Van Morrison albums have artist "Morrison, Van" or "Van Morrison", but not both.

Murray, with regards to multiple covers for one non compilation album the solutions are either;

1 - check in info what artwork is there as sometimes you end up with two different options. Delete the one you do not want and ensure all are the same.

2 - check in info in sorting and remove all entries from the right hand sort boxes.

3 - the worst, you have a bug in your ipod and you need to delete all of the artwork and reload it. I had this once, took me hours and I now keep a file of all artwork which is not available from itunes, or is not the one I want.

4 - as JD states you have some albums as compilations, some as not and albums with different artists e.g Van Morrison and so and so on one of the album tracks, it will show as a separate cover. If you have problems grouping artists even after deleting the other try changing the artist by adding a full stop. This works as well with made up compilations. For example I made up a compilation of British heavy metal and called it UK Rocks, but it showed up more than once on coverflow. This stopped when I changed the title to UK. Rocks.

5 - in the info part of get Info have only the artist listed and delete anything from Album artist. Coverflow seems to confuse the two.

Coverflow is a brilliant feature, but it can be very frustrating.
