Just taken delivery of my new Denon AVR-3311 receiver. Plugged everything in and followed instructions. Got sound but no video (not even the OSD). Fine if plugged in direct (have changed HDMI cables and even the screen).

I have even done a BIOS upgrade (very easy) and a reset (again easy to do). But still no video. Any other suggestions?

The kit comprises (in case you were wondering):

Sony PS3, Wii, PC, Samsung 55C8000 screen (also Samsung 46B7020), Sky HD, Samsung 6900 BD. Monitor Audio Apex 7.1 speakers.

Yes I have tried both. You can configure which is the "primary" and I have checked the default is still "1". I have tried withjust one box (SKY) connected to the HDMI 1 slot. As said I can get sound but have never got any video no matter what slot or setting tried.

Going by my amps manual is not easy to follow & the one for yours looks as bad. Another forum member might have more of a clue & had a similar problem. The online manual Here

I have checked out the pages mentioned:

I have tried to leave most settings at their defaults (although I have played around with the settings). The fact that I have NEVER had any picture come up (including the OSD) is leading me to think the amp is DOA. I am going to connect the TV via composite tonight (to see if I can get a signal and if there are any settings I can change via the OSD).

Talk to your retailer, talk to Denon Support Centre..................or take it back to your retailer and exchange, seems that you are reluctant to chase these people down.

This might not be the case. Once you get your hefty receiver home, unpack, sort out all the packings, connect all the cables and do so much of hard work and then you realize one thing is not working (like lack of OSD in this case).. Let us say he packs everything back to take it to the retailer and the salesperson over there just flips one input parameter (say, HDMI Output mode to non 3D and voila everything works alright). All this effort of unpacking and packing could be saved if some of us have already experienced this.. and I guess that is the main reason for this post. However if no succesful solution comes out I am sure he will return the receiver for a new fully functional one.

I am just trying to state a view point here.

My point was that I understand that none of the three options have been carried out viz;

Talk to Retailer

Talk to Denon Support

Take unit back for exchange

And I do understand what a pain that is, ............but needs must sometimes

I posted the original comment this morning after also contacting the retailer (no reply as yet). I wanted to make sure I wasnt being a !@£$% and have missed something simple. I am going to connect the amp via composite tonight to see if I can get a picture (and OSD). If not I will have to summise that is is DOA.

I also wanted something from the "experts" that I could present to the retailer to help my case.

I will try Denon directly as well, cheers.

Tried the Composite (and Component) - still nothing. Connection via Internet Explorer was cool (although still didnt help).

Supplier collecting DOA box.

Thanks for everyone's help.
