Is It Worth Getting New Speakers..

Hi ive got Sony Bravia KDL20B4050 LCD tv in my bedroom i was thinking of getting a couple of speakers for it or would it not be worth it for this size of tv if that is the case would i be better getting a bigger screen then thinking about new speakers.[H]

I think the point roger06 was making is that you can't just connect up some speakers to the Sony TV's audio outputs: you'll either need an amplifier to drive the speakers or a pair of active speakers (which have built-in amplification).

We have a test of active and powered speakers coming up in our June issue, on sale next week - you may want to wait and have a look at that.

or if you already have some kind of stereo that has stereo (or digital) input you can connect the stereo (or digital) output ofthe TV to this and use its amplifier. You can expect a significant improvement in sound quality compared to Tv even from a modest set of amp+speakers. This would be also true if you use active speakers.

the next option is having multichannel sound, but you will need extra kit and source material for that - and could be too much kit for a bedroom.
