Hi All,

I have just bought my son's christmas IPod. I have only ever ripped CDs to my old Creative Zen, but the boy will want to buy stuff online. Do we have to use itunes or are there cheaper/better options? I am not happy with the idea of DRM given the rate that computers are scrapped and I believe it is limited to 4 or 5.

Thanks for your advice

Most Apple iTunes stuff is DRM free now happily. However, there's nothing to stop you purchasing music elsewhere e.g. Amazon and importing it into iTunes where it can then be synced to the iPod.

You can buy tracks from Amazon and their download software will automatically add them into iTunes as they are downloaded. I've used this quite a few times now and had no issues with it, it all happens in the background.
