iPod to CDP2

I want to (if possible!) connect SWMBO's iPod to the Quad CDP2 so that the CDP2 does the DAC-ing. Is it possible to buy a cable that will take the digital signal out (pref. electrically rather than optically, though the latter would be better than nowt).

no, but there are a couple of docks by wadia and onkyo that will (not especially cheap though). I'd look up the model nos. but am in a&e...

I may be wrong but I think only an apple licensed dac like the Naim Dac can bypass the ipods internal dac so it may be a case of using an ipod dock from arcam, onkyo, wadia, etc into your amp.

hi john is a&e for you or one of the Duncan clan? not to bad we hope! I had to take our foster daughter late last year with sand and gravel in her face after falling of her bike.

Thanks for the input. I had considered the Onkyo (NDS1) but lack of space (don't ask) precludes such a thing (the price is a bit more than I was hoping to pay as well, and as for the Wadia 170i

). I had hoped just a cable, which would tuck away when not in use, would do the trick.
