My iPhone's battery has suddenly gone into meltdown - barely lasted 3hrs on a full charge yesterday and today. I've had a look online and done all the things Apple suggests - turning off wi-fi, Bluetooth, mail push, apps, location services etc - but it's still draining at an alarming rate. Anyone else had this problem and got a solution? Or is the battery just knackered?

Snap! Mine did that on Friday

Is yours also running hot? Mine is, slightly - i've been advised to take out the SIM card and let it all cool down before restarting...

(PS Andy and I both got our iPhones at the same time - just short of a year ago!)

I do not have the 3GS but have the Iphone 4 and had a battery problem too not so long back where it would last half a day on full charge. I did what Apple told me to do like Andy by turning off WiFi etc but made no difference, so i bought an App called "Battery Doctor Pro" and i have to admit, it has solved my problem! My phone seems to last for around 4 days or so! What you have to do is launch the app and then charge the phone while the app is running, the whole process takes probably 3 hours or so but my battery efficiency is allot better now using the app.

As Chebby mentions - if it's happening to you both, it could be a firmware update. I've not updated mine for a while, but my battery is fine.

chebby:Have you both done any firmware updates in the last couple of days?

No, not in the last few days. Spooky that Clare's started doing the same thing on Friday though. I've just noticed it over the weekend.

Are the phones still under warranty? I'm guessing they must be a couple of years old - they should last longer than that though, especially as you can't easily change the battery.

Mine sometimes randomly only lasts 6-7 hours after a full charge, whereas other times it lasts 2 days. It's not usage as it gets pretty much the same use every day, it just seems to drain a lot quicker sometimes. Mine is now just over a year old.
