Just got a Panasonic plasma and I want surround sound. I have a freeview PVR, Xbox 360, Wii, and DVD player. If I get a cinema-in-a-box solution, such as an LG or similar, how does the sound route through?

Are there enough inputs, or can the TV output to the receiver? Or do I have to get an a/v receiver with lots of inputs?

Most HCIB solutions will have insufficient inputs for your needs, unless you resort to external switching units.

One answer might be the Sony HT-IS100 detailed here, which certainly will have enough inputs.

Thanks Andrew. I'll have a look at one of those Sonys you mentioned. Otherwise it looks like it'll have to be an a/v receiver, probably the Onkyo 606. Good excuse anyway!

Odd thing is, I can't be the only person who would like to connect a few devices to a home cinema setup. Gap in the market perhaps.

Yes, a receiver would be the other logical answer. Most HCIB systems are designed for simplicity, so extensive connectivity isn't seen as a priority. The Sony has more simply because it doesn't have a source - ie a DVD player - built-in.
