I have a question about the above projectors. In the recent Ultimate guide to blu ray, you praised IN80 as being an exceptional projector and that you don't really get a big improvement until you go up to the level of the much more expensive JVC

how does it compare with the Panasonic PT AE 2000 then which is about double the price and was so much praised last year? And also what about the new PT AE 3000? I am trying to figure out if it worths spending more money to get one of the panasonics, or going for the in80.

You really need to see these projectors to understand the differences. The 3000 is certainly better than the 2000 , better motion, blacks etc. IMO the PTAE3000 is an excellent product and easily out classes the IN80. You will notice the differences with all source material but the differences will become very apparent on the broadcast TV or DVD.

As always try to get a demonstration first.

I'm seriously considering the PT AE 3000 - when you say it is way ahead of the IN80, what would you say are its peers in terms of quality. The reason I ask is that I've auditioned several DLP models (IN78, IN81, Sim2 D80) and have decided that the rainbow effect makes DLP a non starter. I haven't seen any of the Panasonics yet, but given how long it takes to find a dealer and set up a demo, I'm trying to get an idea of what level of PJ to go for. By the way, I thought the D80 picture was fantasticly good, and would have had no hesitation in buying it, except for the rainbow effect. If the 3000 is anywhere near the D80 in terms of picture, but obviously doesn't suffer from rainbows, then it's probably the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Incidentally, where is the home cinema centre located? I'm in London.
