I can hand-on-heart say that if you took my B&W MT30s away and dropped £2k in my lap, I'd go straight out and buy another set of MT30s.

Basically, with my current room, my current Wife and my current requirements, I can't think of anything better for the money.

Of course if I had a massive room or a blind Wife or somesuch, I'd undoubtedly go for floorstanders in all 6 surround locations with a matching centre, but that'd probably bust the budget too.

I would try and get a second hand pair of £4000 speakers for £2000. I,ve never heard a pair of £2000 speakers that sounded like they were worth the price. Don,t think there is much difference when you go above £1200 and compare them with £2000 worth of box.

Just wanted to get an idea. if you had £2000 to spend on speakers what would they be?? and why?

Hi lewy2004

I would consider the following

For 2ch - ATC's SCM19's or the SCM40 as overall i believe the 40's to probably be the finest VFM speakers currently available on the market irrespective of price.

For AV - Monitor Audio's Silver RX AV6 package, Apex sub/sats or ATC's Concept 1.

All the best

AV or hi-fi? New or used? Seems to be a bit of a mix so far....

From what you have said, I'm assuming 2 channel hi-fi. My choice would depend on amplification, but it would be between the ATC SCM19 and the ProAc Response D18.

Used? KEF Reference 4.2's....

And all those strictly within budget....
