Hi all....

If I purchase a song from i-Tunes, can I burn this onto a CD to be played on a Hifi?

Can I then import that song back into I-tunes and store it has a MP3?

Thanks in advance,

Jimmy

Believe me, you do... had to do this for a few songs I bought on iTunes a long time ago before I was aware of the DRM. In the end I had to source these tracks from somewhere else as the quality was horrendous once I'd done the old burn and reimport trick.

What is DRM?

Digital Rights Management, prevents purchased downloaded music e.g. from iTunes store from being copied and/or ripped and/or transferred to another PC.

Yes and no! Not new to the products, just to what the full workings of them are. I've posted a few help me messages throughout this site. So when my boyfriend wanted to put an iTunes song on his mobile but it wouldn't work he just needed to burn to CD then import back in?

On a separate note my new laptop makes a slight whistling noise from the hard drive (I think!). It's intermitent. Not dead loud, but my ears pick up on it.

Any more tips?

Go to be honest I'm having trouble imagining what you mean by whistling. It's not unusual to hear hard drives spin up/down, could that be it? Only thing I can think of that might whistle would be a fan or something caught in it.

If you're concerned though then I'd take it back, seeing as it's new and all. If they don't think it's a problem then they're bound to have other laptops doing the same thing to prove it.

Did you mean the laptop, or iTunes?

iTunes. But separately I've now noticed that the high-pitched noise only occurs when I run it on the battery, not with the power supply

Well, there's people on here far better than me to give iTunes tips, but post any questions and I'll try my best, although I'm sure the experts will do a far better job

What's the make / model and OS of the laptop? And can you clarify the noise for me, a high pitched whistling on battery sounds a bit weird, and I've worked in the industry for years? Saying that, my laptop crackles, waddo I know...

PS, my laptops problem is a firmware update that I've just been too lazy (disinterested) to apply).

I can't really explain it any better than that other than a bit like if you have ringing in your ears (if you've ever had that). It's not too bad, but I do notice it. The laptop is HP G60 notebook.
