Hi
I have a Musical Fidelity M6i 2 channel amp hooked up to my Denon AVR via the preouts. I run my front speakers to the MF and have the HT bypass switch on the MF switched on which takes the preamp out of action and the volume is handled by the Denon. My source is an Oppo BDP-83SE for everything.
At the moment, I have my 2 channel analog out from the Oppo going the the Denon, so when I play CDs, everthing is powered on. What I want to do is plug the 2 channel analog straight into the MF amp so I can do my music listening without switching on the Denon, but before I do, I have a concern about potentially damaging my speakers (and my eardrums). If I forget to switch the HT bypass off and start playing a CD, will this mean that the amp will be at full volume or does it depend on whether or not my AVR is on or off ???
