How to add center channel to stereo amplifier setup???

Hi, prepare for a strange question, but I have been thinking about the following.

I own a stereo amplifier, which I also use to play movie sound when watching blu-rays.

Sounds okay, but would really like more inteligble vocals. Therefore I have been thinking about adding a center channel to my system.

I do not have room for a full surround setup!

So, with my blu-ray players 5.1 analog outputs, is it possible to play left, right with my usual system and the center channel with a separate amp fed by the C out on the blu-ray player?

The above is possible, I know, but what I haven't figured out is how to control the center channel volume together with the stereo channels.

Is that even possible?

Yes. Get a fifty-seventy quid AV amp with both preouts and six-channel input on eBay (I can recommend the Yamaha DSP-AX620). You can hook up your stereo amp so that you use that amp alone for stereo, and the AV amp can handle the centre channel when required. Depending on how your BD player setup works, you *may* need to plug all six channels in and let the AV amp handle the switching off of the rears, but I'd be surprised if you can't do it in the BDP.
