right i have a 1080p 40" and a DAVIS10 in the post, how do i make it look and sound as good as it truly can? are the any downloads available for a benchmark/contrast/sound test or to help you get the best out of what you have? how much of a difference do high quality cables make? (im using the out of the box set) spending £200 on cables for a fairly budget set up worth it or better to spend that £200 on a better set up? Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

mate cables are a great upgrade throw your free power cables in bin and get some clearer audio power cables for both or if on a budget just for your dvd or clu ray /hd source when you get it try an ordinary cd on it and replace with the new cable the diff is very noticable also get the best hdmi cable you can afford QED are good but the chord silver is better.

to set your screen up there are discs available which are approx £15 but I would use an easier method of something like Star Wars and use the optimizer on ther

As for cables Id do as stated above buy the best you can afford and dump the ones that come free with any product you buy

Unless your house is powered with a diesel generator with a serious misfire, forget replacing the mains leads, they are a complete waste of money! Use a good quality HDMI lead without doubt and I would use an optomiser such as the THX set-up on the Star Wars DVD's to set audio and video settings.

If you get into bigger and better speakers, then quality speaker cable would be a good idea but un-necessary for the DAVIS10 you have purchased.
