Very new to all this so please bear with me! I recently purchased the above Sony telly and have been really pleased with it. However, I had some mates over the other weekend and ended up watching loads of cool old music performances on YouTube (sad I know).
Anyway, instead of crowding around a tiny laptop screen where not everyone could see at the same time and with crappy sound, I figured it'd be cool to make the most of my new telly's PC input.
So, bought myself an HDMI lead today (I know nothing about HDMI), plug it into my laptop and telly and got a picture fine, but no audio? I figured perhaps HDMI doesn't do audio so I used a lead with a little headphone socket connector at one end and RCA at the other and plugged it into the telly in the "HDMI" area where HDMI sockets are. Still no sound. I then unplugged the HDMI lead from the telly to try another socket, just as I unplug the HDMI cable I get sound!?
I have since discovered that I should be able to get sound and vision via the HDMI. But anyway, the audio connection was obviously working on its own, as was the HDMI for the picture, but why wouldn't they work together?
I apologise for the rambling post and I really hope someone can offer some advice.
