Hi,

I have a loft of 5*6 mtrs and want to build a cinema set in this room.

I bought a LG 60PK Plasma tv and I have a PS3 slim for home cinema duties.

Now I want to buy a AV receiver and a 5.1 cinema for movies only cause I have my ADM9,1 for stereo.

Total budget = 2,000 pounds for AVR+5.1 set

any advice?

You could pick up the Pioneer SCLX72 with a Monitor Audio Radius HD package (various combinations available) if you weren't worried about 3D, or Yamaha RXV1067 with Radius HD package if you were. Alternatively, a Monitor Audio Bronze BR package with an outgoing SCLX82 (or 72) sounds pretty damn good (or DSPZ7 if you like things warmer and more laid back). I have heard the Bronze package with the LX82, so can vouch for it working very well together.

Thank you for you reply sir, I prefer normal speaker over design speakers. So the Bronze serie is pretty good, 3D is not important.

What about 5 x BR/BX1? Because it's for cinema and the center has the same drivers as the BR/X1. Pioneer LX-82 would be a great AVR.

Then the SCLX82/SCLX72 paired up with the Bronze BR range would be a good place to start. You could also look at the Acoustic Energy Neo V2 series, which would only be slightly out of budget if you went for the SCLX72. I found the Neo V2 and Bronze BR to sound very similar in our demo room, so that makes the BR a bargain. The BX range would come out around the same price as the Neo V2 range.

My choice would be the system I heard - BR5's front L/R, BR LCR centre, BRW10 sub and BRFX dipole surrounds. The dipole surrounds could be substituted for BR1's if the dipoles would be awkward to place in your room. This package would all use the same size drivers, so would sound closer to each other than using BR2's or BR6's.

Why I should buy the br5 instead of the br1 when I use it for movies only? I mean I don't use the extra bassdriver in the br5 when I set up my LFE?

thanks

It's really up to you, but the BR5 is a much better speaker than the BR1. You can still cross the 5's over about same frequency as the 1's - I'd say about 80Hz, and let the sub do the rest.

Either way, it'll be a good system
