Hello all, newbie here ...

I apologise in advance, I'm sure this has probably been asked a million times before, but I'm going to ask it anyway.

I appreciate sound and vision quality, I have a Sky HD box and a playstation for blu-ray, but I am lacking on the sound aspect. I would like to buy an amp and a set of speakers to enjoy movies and music but I am severely hamstrung by budget. I can only dream of buying some of the kit on this website, one day maybe ..!

So what is the best way to go, my budget is c£1k for an amp and speakers.

Cheers all!

Gazt,

£1k is a healthy budget and will get you some quality kit!

Amp - £500

Onkyo TX-SR608 (3D)

Pioneer VSX-920 (3D)

Yamaha RX-V667 (3D)

Denon AVR-2310 (non-3D)

Speakers - £300 - £400

Boston Acoustics Soundware

Q Acoustics 1010i

Roth OLi 1

Mordaunt-Short Alumni

Note:

Do also factor in the cost of hdmi cables, speaker cables, speaker stands if you don't have these at the moment.

Join www.richersounds.com VIP club, they have a Onkyo 608/Boston 5.1 speakers set / Sony BDPS570 offer on at the moment for £ 749.99.

Nice little package for the price, under budget

Reading your post I thought you had about £200 to spend!

Do go on recommendations from the learned people on here but don't just buy on price alone (online etc). The way best to spend £1000 is to get what you want, not what others may say you want, so you don't spend £1000 now then more later getting what you want.

So take your time and make sure you demo kit. And I'll echo sentiment here - £1000 will get you a VERY nice little set up!

Have fun.
