I had just bought my first house and have always wanted a home cinema. I have the tv already but require a av receiver and speakers. I'm looking at the KEF KHT 3005SE for the speakers as the lounge is not huge. As for the receiver I'm unsure but have been looking at the following; Onkyo TX-SR606, Yamaha DSP-AX763, Yamaha DSP-AX863SE or the Sony STR-DA2400ES. I'm mostly going to use the system for watching movies if that makes a difference and have a media PC with a blu ray drive set up. Any advice would be great. Thank you

You are on the right lines so far if your speaker and amp choice is anythink to go by. The 606 is indeed an excellent amp as are the KEF3005SE I have the 2005.2 with the 3005se center speaker.

Hi,

When you say your room is not huge, how big are you talking?

My room is 4m x 4m roughly and I have the 3005SE set up with a Denon 1909 av reciever and am very very happy.

If you will be using the system purely for home cinema then I would go for either a Denon or Onkyo reciever, however if you are planning to listen to music as well (through your PC) then IMO it would be the Yamaha's (either one, whichever suits your budget).

Also dont forget to budget in for speaker cabling / stands etc.
