I have a PS3 and am looking for a Home Cinema all in one solution for my flat. It would have to be within £400 and hopefully have an addition play so I could play Cds without having to turn on my TV!!

Any help gratefully received, as I am ignorant beyond belief!!

If you can stretch to it, the £580 LGHT953TV is great and will look the part, combined with your PS3.

It's reviewed next issue, on sale 16th Oct.

Or the cheaper (£350) space saving Sony option is the Sony DAV F200 - it's a small 2.1 system but works brilliantly, especially if your flat is small.

Or the Sony HT-SS1300 / SF1300 the SS has satelite speakers and the SF floorstanders. Both very popular with PS3 owners etc. Available for £250 and £300 respectively.

Or the Dav IS10/HT-IS100 or Onkyo HTX22HD (+ the speaker package to make it 5.1).

I was looking at these Sony systems however always read that its better to get an amp and speakers rather than all in one!?

Maybe Sony 820 amp plus Tannoy fx5.1 which would be about £370 - how much would it cost in speaker cables etc to hook this up and would it be that much better than Sony all in one?

There's no point in buying that system, because the Tannoy fx5.1 isn't good enough to show the Sony's true capability, which would be better with £600 speaker packages.

Instead, try the £180 Sony STR-DG520 and the great-value Jamo A102HCS5 speaker packageÿhttp://whathifi.com/Review/Jamo-A102HCS5/ that goes for under £250.ÿ

I must admit, I was looking for a system with a HDMI in so i could utilise the the LPCM output of the playstation. The lG looks good in all aspects insteasd of the price. The sony wopuld be ideal, but it does not accept LPCM through HDMI, therefore can not utlise the high def audio.any more suggestions greatfully received

I don't understand how you can say there is no point in buying this system. Yup, okay, a more expensive speaker package would sound better with the Sony but it's hardly pointless. I use an Onkyo 905 with the B&W 685 setup - ideally I could run a much more expensive speaker package with that amp, but it still sounds fantastic with the B&Ws.
My advice would be to go and listen to the system and then decide if it's pointless or not. The Sony 820 amp is a good bet as it will be future proof since it can accept and decode all the main new HD audio formats.

Hi the sony HT-IS100 is sonys new version of the award winning dav is10. You can find it for £350 online and it has the same golf ball size speakers but no dvd player which if your gona use it with PS3 does'nt matter. It allows Lpcm sound through Hdmi so the ps3 decodes it and the system accepts it, so all your HD sounds will be there. Theres also an option for wireless rears using the £150 air system........so for £500 you will have a neat compact wireless rears Hd playing system not bad i think, just waiting for review from whf......

Hope have been of help....
