Help,

After many years of intending to buy a home cinema system only to be put off by the many wires to have around the room I am looking at the Yamaha sound bar YSP-2200, issue, I also need to update my music system so here goes.

Looking at the review on the 2200 it states the stereo is not great, can I hook up a CD player and if so will this sound good or would I be better advised to purchase a blue ray player and use this.

My current CD player is mini Sony 10 year old not very good sounding good, you have more then likely gathered by now when it comes to systems I am a novice, so many reviews and prices, head bursting stuff.

Thanks,

Fitzz

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

It seems you are not aiming at 'true' surround so I would get a stereo amp, a BD player and/or a CD player, a set of stereo speakers and wire up the TV to it. A CD player will give better musical results than a BD player but if you're looking to keep the box count low, a BD player would be the better option (or PS3 if that floats yer boat).

You'd have a decent music system with the option of producing decent stereo sound from any source.

Work out how much you are willing to spend and have a look at the reviews on the WHF site for pointers to narrow your selection, audition as many components as you can together with your own CD's and movies.

What's your budget, current equipment that you may keep, musical tastes, room size, do you have a favourite brand i.e. Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon...

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.
