Hey all!

About time now that I finally got my home cinema system in place and at the same time caught up with technology.
I'm a bit out of the loop with regards A/V but I do want my setup to be compatible with a newly acquired HD tv and my consoles, dvd, video and laptop etc.
I obviously enjoy the sound from my AV Reciever - Yamaha RX-V2095RDS and my Kef Model 100 Reference Series Center speaker but I'm unsure of a couple of things.
I've got a budget of around £1000 which would sort me out with a speaker package such as Q Accoustics offer and the Denon AVR 1910 amp.
My questions however are:

1) Whilst there is a huge difference in price between my Yamaha and the Denon, does the difference in years and subsequent technology mean that it's a worthwhile step?

2) Should I instead stick with my current amp and center and buy some fronts and rears to complement them?

Many thanks
Stevie

it could be...only the center...the "poor man's" soundbar lol. I am not familiar with that kef speaker to know if it would be simple to get matching fronts.

Yes. I would however buy a matching front three (or even just a pair of fronts to begin with), rather than try to get something to match the KEF, and skimp on the rears.

The Q Acoustic packages are great, but don't have the scale the Yamaha is built for - I'd think bigger, even if it means leaving out rears for the time being.

Thanks John.
With regards compatibility with todays technology - does the yamaha fit the bill?
If so, can you recommend any speakers/ speaker packges?

Thanks again,

Hey all, sorry to come back to this.

Two questions still remain....

1) Is the Yamaha compatible with todays kit and future technology?
2) What would be a good speaker match please?

Happy to consider stand/ wall mounts due to having large floorstanders for hi-fi kit and also happy to entertain used products.

Cheers

With regards to your receiver's compatibility, it should be compatible with today's kit that have analogues out, as it doesn't have HDMI. Your choice of matching kit (blu-ray player) will always be limited & more expensive.
