Hi, Looking for some info on a couple of used CDP's. Has anyone out there heard of the Sony CDP-561E ? Apparently this model was tuned for the British market but I can't find any info on it anywhere and was wondering if it's any good.

Also the Philips 610 MKII, Onkyo DX2700 and Arcam Alpha plus CDP. I'm considering buying one of these and don't know which is best.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

Scroll down for the Sony info, from June 1995, the Arcam Alpha...5 is it, or maybe the 1? Very well rated with a good transport. No idea about the Onkyo, but the Philips was a decent machine in its day. All circa mid-90s I suspect, with the possible exception of the Onkyo perhaps.

Check the transports, the availability of spare parts, the DACs used and you shouldn't be spending too much on these (any of them). £50-100 tops and that's probably nearer £75 max.

Crikey the Phillips 610 MkII. That brings back memories. Apart from a Technics seperates system this was the first bit of hi-fi I had 20+ years ago.

I can remeber demong 4 sub £200 players at the time.

In the following 5 or 6 years I chopped and changed at a budget level but the one constant was the Phillips.

Then spent the next 15 years in mini system wilderness

Green Home Electronics have a CD610 II, boxed, at £29.99 and they also have a Sony CDP570 for similar money. I've bought a few things off them and always been happy.
