Hi

I am looking for a discrete 5.1 speaker package and I like the look of both of these. I will be pairing them with an older Onkyo amp. Does anyone have any experience with either of these sets or is one of them going to suit my amp better. I have about £250 to spend so if there are any other suggestions it would be helpful to hear them.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Onkyo 605. Just plugged it all in, used the auto setup and away we go. Room is wooden floors (rug coming) and otherwise square, and sonically friendly (i.e. few straight edges / plenty of curtain, furniture) about 3.5x5 metres.

Personally, I'm happy with 3.1, but it didn't take much to mount the rear speakers and hide the wires to them. I have the rears at roof level, about 2 metres behind the listening position, arced down. The front left and right are in each corner of the room - wall mounted. The centre is mounted below the television.

Have been considering the Monitor Audio Radius 45s, but they are a long way off as I want to upgrade the television and get a blu ray player first.

Bought a Yamaha 763 to go with my Jamo 102s yesterday. Will be setting up today so will post a short report later.

How has the Jamo and Yam 763 set up turned out?

Thought about this myself at one point but figured the amps 95W into 8ohms would have been way too much for the Jamos 60Watt at 6ohm.

simply awesome. As always there is a need to read the instruction manual with the amp. The remote is a thing of awe, so many buttons so little time.

Seriously, the whole setup is staggering considering that this is the 'budget' end of the market. The Yamaha was £279 from Richer Sounds and is amazing value for money at that price. I have use QED silver anniversary cables along withe Panasonice BD35 Blu-ray player, and Panasonic 42inch 1080p plasma the results were def worth waiting for.

So all in all a big thank you to all that gave advice and recs to get me to this setup.
