I currently have a Denon AVR1800 running mission 78 speakers (Front 782, rears 780, center 78c). The fronts are connected to a Roksan candy amp, the Denon is connected to the roksan via its front speaker preouts, using the Roksan in a power amp fashion. This is done so that i can use the roksan's superior performance for both stereo and cinema listening. The problem is that the Denon is in serious need of replacing. What I would like to know is would it be better the buy a good budget AV amp such as the onkyo 606 and still use the roksan candy, or to buy a more expensive AV amp and remove the candy from the system. Any ideas anyone, please. Thank you

I listened to an Onkyo 875 against my old Audiolab 8000A with B&W 685 speakers and the Audiolab was musically better. I'd say a Roksan Candy would be way better than my Audiolab so you'd be better to keep the Roksan. See Onkyo 606 v 875 question I asked on May 28.

It's here.

And BTW you can't use the 606 with the Kandy - the 606 doesn't have front channel preouts.
