Hey all,
Currently have a Sony 46W2000 that's starting to get long in the tooth (no 24fps, 2x HDMI) and with my growing collection of Blu-Ray films I've decided to go all-out and buy a more recent screen.
I have pretty much decided on a Pioneer PDPLX5090 with an undermounted speaker + stand to compliment my existing Sony PS3 and Sky HD hardware, however I'm also in the market for a nice surround setup (5.1 ideally) and a dedicated receiver and speaker package which is where my question comes in..
I have solid hardwood flooring already laid down (skirting sat on top of the flooring) and I want to run the rear speaker cables to behind our sofa, however, as the skirting is on top of the flooring it's severly limiting my options (I'd have to remove half the skirting around the room to get to the flooring)
[*]Does anyone have any advice for getting up / shifting a few "pieces" of hardwood flooring? (I don't mind chasing the floor once it's up, but I fear it could be a MASSIVE job for a 3inch trough)[*]Are there any viable alternatives to a 5.1 system? (I love my films so I'd hate to be forced in to a 2.1 setup but because of the layout of the room it's impossible to run cables around the perimeter as our back door is in the way)[*]My Hi-Fi speakers are sat either side of my current TV (Audiovector Mi3 Avantgarde) however they are not currently connected to the TV in any way. Would it be better to run a pair of RCA connectors from the TV to the Aux In on my amp? It's not ideal but it would save the flooring and at least it would be better than the standalone TV speakers.
Any help is appreciated.. I am ready to pull the trigger if the flooring doesn't pose too much of a problem (I'm thinking a decent carpenter could pull the flooring aside just enough to chase the runs without moving too many of the "pieces"???) although I was hoping to hear from the gurus on here.
Thanks for the help
