Help me upgrade my surround amp and cd player.

Hi everyone.

I currently own an arcam avr300 and cd73t.

I would like to upgrade my system and the obvious choice for me would be the arcam avr500 and cd17 but they both come with a hefty price tag.

I originally purchased the arcam avr300 because it was both excellent with movies and music.

Can anyone help me find an alternative avr amp cd combination that is going to give me that movie/music balance that I desire without the hefty price tag of the arcam or do I need to keep saving.

The only amp I have read about that comes close is the rotel rsx1550,but this amp has 5.1 channels and i have been using the extra channels on my arcam avr300 to bi amp my monitor audio rs6's.Will I loose out on sound quality using the rotel?

I bought my AVR500 from the Sound Gallery (couldn't resist the speaker offer). Was thinking I would need to upgrade my old Arcam Alpha 5+ to something newer but was advised to keep that and just take the digital feed from that at let the amp do all the magic stuff.

Seems to work for me. I'm hearing stuff on CDs that I haven't heard before.

So maybe try with your cd73 and see what it is like.
