Help me get my HiFi into the 21st Century

I have an old NAD amplifier with TDL4 speakers and I just can't give them up because the sound from this setup is just so good.

Can anyone recommend a way to play music from iTunes on a Mac into my NAD without having to go through the buzzy, hissy, static ridden headphone socket on the mac?

I know I can go down the route of Sonos and the like, but surely there is a simple way to get quality audio out of a mac these days?

Is the headphone an optical out as well ? If it is just get a cheap DAC (£25) to sit between Mac & amp
