Hi im not sure if this post is in the correct section but i have a question.

Why is picture quality better from my 2m sky HD cable than my 10m QED performance Active cable? I plan on hiding away a sky box hence need the longer cable. I have a samsung 48'' UE486400 television and the issue seems like the longer cable doesnt support the clear motion rate of my television. Does this sound correct? I have tried another 10m cable and had the same issue. The clarity and detail is not as clear and looks like a standard 200CMR samsung which i have in another room.

Thanks for any suggestions.

HDMI cables are certified to work till 10m, although many longer lengths work.

Beyond 10m, some manufacturers employ technologies like "active" to ensure signal strength stays strong. Does that affect picture quality? I do not know. But it shouldn't affect "clarity and detail".

This should not be a problem cause I got a 10 meter HDMI cable from my computer to my main tv. I watch blueray & play games on it with no problems. If you have tried two cables then I supect something is not working well with the 10mtrs cable. It could will be its finding it hard to deal with 10 meters. Apart from the sky box can you try another source..?

So after more messing around I found the issue isn't the HDMI cables it's the inputs on the tv. Basically the poorer signal is using the ARC input whereas when using the STB input it changes the appearance very noticeably in a positive way. I have no idea why this may be the case.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm glad you got it sorted! I wouldn't have thought that the ARC input would affect the incoming signal so much, but we all learn something every day! 10m of HDMI cable should not be a problem, I use several 15m and 20m HDMI, VGA and digital optical cables, and they all work fine.
