Hi folks

Earlier this year I joined the HD revolution without knowing too much about it (despite finding this forum) and made the following purchases

Panasonic Th- 42PZ85B

Sony DAV-IS10

Panasonic DMP - BD30

Sky HD

Wasn't really sure how to set things up and ended up buying 3 HDMI leads from the tv to connect to the Sony surround sound, blue ray player and sky HD and then used a optical cable to connect the sky box to the surround sound system and a coaxial cable to connect the blu ray player to the surround system

Then I realised I couldn't get the new hD sound as my blu ray didnt decode it and my surround sound couldn't receive it either

Anyway, with hindsight, if I purchased a blu ray player that could do the HD audio for me, would the above connections be correct.. I think I understand that such audio can only come via HDMI, but as both my blu ray and surround system are connected to the tv by HDMI (and they both only have one HDMI connection) how would I get the new HD audio if say for example I upgraded my blu ray to say BD 35 or 55

Your help would be most appreciated

Thanks

If your amp can take a 5.1/7.1 LPCM feed from the HDMI and the Blu-Ray player decodes to this then you should be fine :) Just the HDMI connection needed to the amp from the BR player. Alternatively if the player decodes the formats, has an 8 channel analogue out and your amp has an 8 channel in then you can do it that way too.

I assume this is what you mean?

Can I just clarify then -

My blu ray is connected to the tv via HDMI - I will have to also connect it to the amp via HDMI which current HDMI slot goes into the tv at present

Thanks
