HD sound output from blue ray players

Can Blue ray players give HD sound via their coaxial or optical outputs as well as their HDMI connection?

Nope, fraid not. The digital coaxial / optical connection just doesn't have the bandwidth capacity to carry the HD signals, just Dolby Digital / standard DTS 5.1.
