HD AUDIO VIA HDMI

i have an sony 820, ps3, toshiba ep30 hddvd all of which output the hd audio linear pcm to my receiver

what i need to know is if i upgrade to a ep 35 and sony s350 will i notice the differene in sound quality when the audio is output via bitstream through hdmi as true hd on my amp

i have looked on the forums and no one has a straight answer because i was under the assumption that when you bitstream the audio via hdmi to my receiver that was the best quality i could get higher bit rate.

when the ps3 converts true hd to lpcm does it not downgrade the signal form 18mbps to 3mbps

so which is the best linear pcm through player decoding or hdmi bitstreaming true hd, dts hd + DD+ through receiver decoding?

any thoughts anyone as i am 2 hours off buying an ep35 off ebay for £200

It depends which is better at decoding the signal, which is dependent on the player/receiver.ÿ
