I've just re-built my ageing PC and finally got around to (been forced into) updating to the latest version of iTunes. Since doing this I seem to have lost the option to access my Gen 1 Apple TV's hard drive. All previous existing content is still sat there in the "My Music/My Music" menu options, but the only way I can figure out to view new content added to my PC is via a new ATV menu option of "Shared Music/Shared Movies", which is only accessible when my PC is turned on with iTunes fired up. It essentially seems that iTunes is now configured to support the Apple TV 2 streaming only set-up, and means my ATV 1 Hard drive is effectively redundant
My PC is always on, so there is no practical reason why I'm taking umbrage to this, however I have always felt reassured that my AIFF files sitting on a hard drive 1m from my amp is a superior option to wireless streaming.
Does anyone know of a way to re-configure iTines or Gen 1 ATV, to re-enable access to my hard drive, or can you re-assure me that it will really make no difference?
