Has OLED TV really got a future?

Yes, it's a stunning TV. Let's see how LG prices them this year. They have no competition, so can put whatever price on it as they wish, but have to be careful to not ask a ridiculous price which may not find buyers.

I dont think its the end. LG have thier 77inch OLED 4K TV. previously getting to that size with OLED was problomatic. Of course people will pick affodability over spec, but that wont stop the enthusiasts and prices will come down.

It's the new Plasma vs LED, both can exist together and one will be better than the other in many ways. It's a ittle premature of that article to even ask the question.

I like the LG one too and can be had cheap here:

When I spoke with Jules he had a customer who had a Pioneer 9th generation TV and then went to this and he said it blew it away! One customer was having problems with lazy pixels though.

I think there may be some substance to the speculation. OLED as a technology has been around for a long time. The first OLED TV was released by Sony in 2007. It's taking an awfully long time for the technology to develop and become mainstream. I hope it succeeds.

I don't want curved BTW, if LG are reading...

Though it looks like you'll get curved, whichever technology we're discussing, at least for the next few years.

Perhaps manufacturers will argue for "outie" rather than "innie" curves in future, to replicate the CRT experience.

Like yourself, I'd prefer a flat screen, irrespective of how large that screen might be.

agreed it has been around a while now and while I understand the article, I felt it was premature because they only recently developed a big enough panel 🙂

I hope it sticks around too, I would love to have an OLED 4K TV to replace my Panasonic, at a resonable price :?
