Hi,

I've just bought a Logitech Harmony 885 and I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I'm now wondering whether I should've bought the new Harmony One instead (or even the 1000).

Does anyone have the 885 or One and have any comments? It only needs to control my TV, A/V Receiver, CD player & DVD player. I know it won't turn the PS3 on but will it switch on the Wii?

Can't comment on either except to say, what put me off the Harmony One was the fact it had no coloured buttons (red, green, yellow and blue). I use these all the time with my TV and my PVR so it was no good. In the end I went for the cheaper 555, and this is fantastic, I don't need any of my old remotes now except for the PS3.

Thanks prof. I never even thought about the coloured buttons

Hopefully the 885 will have them then.

It is a little annoying that Sony went the bluetooth route but I'm sure there's a PS3 remote converter out there but not sure how well it works.

The European 885 has coloured buttons, the US versions often do away with them.

There are PS3 adapters to make the Harmony work, but most of them have limited stock at the moment as they are still in their early stages.

Like professorhat I have the 555, and all I can say is it's fantastic - have programmed it to control the TV, AV receiver, DVD player, Virgin V+ box and it works a treat. It's easy to update via the laptop too.

Mine arrived today and it's a great remote. Most of the basic set up was smooth running but my sagem Axium TV didn't want to play ball so after a bit of IR teaching it was all systems go.

Not sure what the 885 has over the other models and I'm sure it does more than I'll ever use but I got it for a good price and I'm very happy with it. Highly recommended

This would seem to do the trick, and you could always learn the commands using the 885 and then dispense with the handset supplied.

Think I'm going to get the Harmony 555 for the bedroom ...or maybe the 525

I have the 885 and I wouldn't go back now. I have Samsung 32" tv, Onkyo 605, PS3, Wii and PC all connected.

The remote can't control the Wii as it is turned on and off using Bluetooth, same as the PS3, although for the PS3 you can buy the cheap Pelican PL-6350 PS3 remote which has a USB dongle and then setup the 885 to replace it. No learning required, it's in their database. It works a treat.

Hope this helps.

I'm keeping the 885. I've upgraded the firmware and tweaked my settings a little and it's now absolutely perfect.
