I have purchased a 22EX320 and am extremely pleased with the quality of picture and functions including internet access. I now want to buy an external hard drive to record upon. Looking online however there seem to be potential problems with compatibility - can anyone tell me of a drive that is 'idiot-proof' and can be used easily? Also is it preferable that such a drive has an independent power supply?

Hello Mr. Broon as i fallen in love with new Bravias i get information almost everyday; according to Sony web page the (only tested) hard disc you need is the Western Digital My Book Essentials (WDBACW0010HBK / WDBACW0020HBK), with 1Tb and 2Tb respectively, i hope this help, regards from southern Spain.

I was under the impression that you could use any USB external harddrive, guess even a memory stick.

Going to try it on my 24EX320 over the weekend. Will post back then.

Kind Regards,

I've played around with this, needs to be bigger than a 32gb drive and with a 32gb one it keeps telling you the drive is nearly full when it isn't, i rekon you can fit about 10h on to a 32gb stick.
