Greyed out top line, why?

I have recently noticed the top line of my post / reply, the one that includes Bold, Italic, add a photo etc is permanently greyed-out. Any reasons why?

Odd. Mine used to work OK but have only just noticed it so not sure how long it's been like if.
What's even odder is I have just tapped on a few icons at random and it has suddenly un-greyed itself....

It appears to be browser related, at least IME.

I've noticed it when using Chrome/Edge on occasion (presumably updates breaking things, before being resolved)

But never had the issue when using Firefox.

I should add this is with the mobile versions (Android) as I don't use desktop to casually browse the web

Not browser related in my case as using the same device without any updates and I somehow managed to get it back as it should be. No idea how.
