Hi all!

I've been thinking of selling my grado 225is & buying the new B&W p3. I want the B&W p3 because theyre more portable than my grados

Whats the quality of the B&Ws compared to the grados?

Oh btw Iam listening to my music on my iphone in lossless with my fiio e7 amp (which I may upgrade at a later date)

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Oli

The B&W P5 sounds pretty dull and mushy compared to a Grado, so I would not expect a huge improvement with the P3. Right now I use a Senn PX-200ii with the ipod and 'Rock' EQ setting, which produces sound far superior to the P5 or any other small portable below about $250. I've heard people complain about EQ, but the negatives from my EQ setting are 1/100 the negatives from headphones like the B&W.

Read my review in the "opinion" tab of the WHF product review page

I can't find it - can you make a link? Also, are you comparing the Grado to the P3?

Since my previous reply, I purchased the P3 and reviewed it. I believe it's more or less equivalent to the Grado in overall quality, but will sound different of course. The P3 will have less bass and treble, but it's a smooth sound with no irritations, so it's a tossup which one you would prefer.

Oh ya! These are an awesome set!

RouzySonic, can you a) amend your signature to make clear your trade status, and b) stop posting comments linking to/promoting your business.

I do remember this now - it helped make my purchase decision. And no disappointment either - it looks and feels like something you'd buy at a fine jewelry emporium. Ditto for the sound.
