As reported on the news pages on here and BBc etc, Sky is pulling Sky Sports News from the Freeview platform. I sort of understand the reasoning behind it but I do feel that Sky are rather over egging the channel a bit. They talk about extending content and an HD version but when push comes to shove it's little more than a 15 minute loop, every hour of the same stuff. I know peope will react differently but IMHO, it's no great loss - I mean, Saturday pm is three hours of watching Matthew Le tissier et al watching football [:S] (us watching them, watching us, watching them, watching it, watc......etc etc etc )

Any thoughts?

Nooooo-- I don't care if it's a loop, there's nothing on telly of interest to me other than sport and I refuse to pay the ridiculous price for live sports, so Sky Sports News is always the first and usually last channel I watch. Ohhhhh no.

I am not going to miss what I never watched.

Apart from a - very occasional - foray into CH4 for things like this in the past, most of my viewing is a few bits and bobs from BBC iPlayer throughout the week and Grand Prix races during the F1 season.

Whenever I have looked though the 90 something other Freeview channel listings, it has been a most depressing prospect.

Apart from the fact that the words "sky" and "news" together has to be a contradiction in terms, if it means less people are exposed to sky's supposed "news" channels then i am all for it.

My sons sometimes watch it in the morning, and it's awful. Especially the fat, sweaty ex-manager they have on all-too-frequently, who has the personality and insight of a tennis ball.

[EDITED BY MODS- MIND THE LANGUAGE, PLEASE]

I mean't faltering, honestly...
