Hi David,

I will be booking in a demo within the month with a friend of mine. He is interested in building a new home cinema surround system for his house before Xmas or at the start of the year. I have been asked by your store to get some suggestions to what we should be looking at so thought I would start a forum discussion.

I have recommended yourselves to him as its local-ish and you have a vast range of stock. Also a great excuse for me to finally make the trip to Coventry from the North. I think his budget is less than £4K for a home cinema amp, surround speakers and a tv.

Provisionally I have recommended auditioning the RX2 AV surround system with a Pioneer LX range amp and a suitable TV. His room is only small, about 4m2. Do you think I am on the right lines for a good system match up for him.

I also want to come down with him to finally hear a Bryston amp as I have been seriously thinking the best solution for a high end hifi and home cinema might be a 4BSST2/14BSST2 with a 6BSST2. I never really thought I would part with my MF KW gear but its difficult to integrate another amp to take over centre & rear speaker duties that has a similar sonic match to the KW750. And I am sick of changing the speaker terminals at the back of the speaker to switch from Hifi to home cinema duties. How does the Bryston amps fair with the MA PL300 speakers?

Do you think I am on the right lines for a good system match up for him.It's an excellent place to start. It'll also be worth mentioning the KEF Q series to him as well. We have a few alternative packages if you're after lifestyle type speakers, like Monitor Audio's Radius HD and KEF's KHT5005 and T series packages, but these will be outperformed by the former recommendations.

How does the Bryston amps fair with the MA PL300 speakers?During the last demo I did with the Bryston amplification and suitable speakers, the PL200's faired very well, and the PL300's would be no exception. The PMC OB1i's also came out very well too, as did the KEF Reference 205/2's - stunning combo, but probably no need to mention that

There's also the Spendor A9's - they take quite a while getting used to, but do impress over a long listen, and the ProAc D28/D38 is quite a favourite among our customers.

I've never really found a speaker that doesn't go well with the Bryston as they hold the speakers in a vice like grip and demand, rather than ask, what's required of the speaker. The brystons also sound exactly the same when you turn them up too - there's so much power on tap that they just never seem to run out. Their effortlessness and composure stays rock solid.

All these, and a few others, are available for demo, so just let us know when you want to pop in and I'll make sure the Bryston's are toasty

Your line was busy David when they tried to transfer me so they asked me to email Kevin for system suggestions. I thought it would be better to start a forum discussion so it may assist others. Will just call again and have a chat David.
