Has anybody out there had problems updating the software on their machine?

Mine won't do it, I have even tried downloading it from their website, so can't view iplayer.

Also, and more annoyingly, I am unable to copy my media to an external hard drive, so have no space to record programs unless I constantly delete things.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I've had no problems upgrading the firmware. What version do you currently gave? Is it giving any error messages?

What file format is your external hard disk formatted? The Foxsat HDR is only compatible with ext3 and FAT32. It won't recognise NTFS formatted drives. I wonder if thats the problem?

I haven't had any problems with updating my box, although its set to auto-update. I've just tried a manual update, and it comes back with 'no new updates found'.

I've not tried to connect a USB disk, but have tried a USB pen drive to copy some photos over to the box. It wasn't exaclty an intuative process, so I'm guessing the archive function isn't too user freindly either.

Thanks, i think you are probably right the format of the drive is likely to be the problem, thanks for the advise.

Well have re-formatted and partitioned the hdd, but still no joy

The only option I was given using Mac utilities was MS-DOS FAT, is this the correct one?

I made three partitions (one for time machine) and two FAT ones, the FAT ones show up when connecting to the Humax but it will still not enable me to copy to the hdd even though it is quite happy to rip photo files from a USB.

Software is U 7.52.

If you are formatting a drive for the Foxsat with OSX Disk Utility, check that you are using the MBR partition SCHEME rather than Apple's GUID or APM, which will be the defaults on MacIntel or PPC machines respectively.

If you are trying to do firmware updates on almost any machine, you've got a better chance of success with a single partition and the updater in the root directory, rather than multiple partitions and the software in the second/third - it may be easier to use a keyring drive.

And you may have more luck with help for the Foxsat specifically in forums/wikis for that machine. You may be confusing updates of the loader (7.5x) from the website with updates to the firmware, including iPlayer (1.00.xx), off-air; I can't tell from your posts.
