Hi,

Not sure if I'm in the right forum or not but am looking for a device that I can simply plug into my AVR that has internal storage and can play back FLAC / MP3 audio. Budget approx £150, any ideas for the best sounding device?

Thx Ox

Popcorn Hour A-200 for £160 and you can buy and add a 1tb 2.5inch internal drive for about £50. Or Western Digital HD Live for £80 and an external USB drive for about £50.

Ok thanks. The WD Live looks pretty good for the price.

Do you know how the sound compares to Lacie Lacinema Classic Hd? And what makes the sound better / worse? Dont quite understand what makes a player have a good / bad sound.

Thx Ox

If you are sending the sound to your AV receiver via digital cable, the sound from any of them will be pretty similar and the DAC in your receiver will determine the sound quality.

I'm in the same situation of looking for a FLAC media player also. Are all the FLAC player described above bit perfect? thank you.

The Popcorn Hour is for sure as my DacMagic tells me by LED on the front.
