question is this

Which set will give me the least pixelated - sharpest SD picture at 2.5 metres from the set.....between 55'' C8000 samsung and a 50'' VT20 Panasonic using a SKY feed?

thanks - your final comments will decide my choice

imo , last years samsung lcd range just had the edge over the panny plasmas for sd , i had both at home , but this year ? i wouldnt say there is much in it , i havnt properly compared , but they have both improved with sd according to reviews , the extra 5in of the samsung wont help the sd at 2.5 metres imo , i would go with the panny , id say its just a better all round tv , as the reviews are starting to suggest , that big samsung is gorgeous though ..

the decision is a nice problem to have too

Everyone was raving about the panasonics at the show I was at today. Even the G20 was being spoken about as a 'phenomenal set'.....that was from a guy not connected to panasonic but a tech guy from freesat, even the guys at Sony could only say that the panasonic suffered from an eye strain issue on 3D, they didnt claim the Sony was better on 2D, (the Sony 903 looks awesome by the way). I wont be surprised if ultimatley when a giant test takes place if the battle across 3D and 2D comes down to Sony vs Panasonic with Samsung in 3rd due to minor halo effect

that being said there is the look of the set as well and the extra 5 inches in HD will be great!

???? might be down to availability

to be honest , i think the sd will be great on both , and the normal 2d hd , but the panny has close to kuro black levels , the samsung dont get close in this important area , or on contrast , or the naturalness of the picture , or motion , or price , or 3d performance , oops , im getting carried away arent i

well that will probably rule out the Sony for the time being, following their recent price increase.
