fell asleep on remote...

My dad has a Goodmans TV in his bedroom, GTVL26W26HDF.
One night he fell asleep on the remote and now the TV wont show a picture. When you try to tune it in the menu screen pops up then shifts to where only a small part of it is visible.
Has anyone ant ideas on what might be wrong or if there is anything I could do to try fixing the set before we need to pay out for a repairer to look at it?

Probably a stuck button on the remote. Unlikely to be anything wrong with the TV - should just need a new remote.

Looks like a replacement will cost you about £35 from somewhere like espares
