Extension leads and Tacimas

Hi. If anyone has read my other posts I am saving up for a new cdp and amp as my Arcams arent up to the job of running my new speakers.

Before I make the plunge and buy new cdp and amp I am going to try the ClearerAudio Copper Line Alpha mains cables and a Tacima block to hopefully get an improvement in the meantime. It will be good to have them ready for my new system which is going to take me a while to get the funds together for.

My question is this. My power socket is on the other side of my room from where my hifi rack is. I have a cheap 4 socket extension cable running from there.into which I plug my tv, dvd player and a second cheap 4 socket extension.lead into which I plug my cdp, amp and power amp.. I know this is less than ideal but is the only way I can do it. Would there be any point in just using a Tacima for my hifi when it will be plugged into a cheap extension lead and not the mains?

Thanks in advance for any help/thoughts on this.

Hello bobbyg81,

Your current setup running an extension off of another extension (i.e., known as daisy chaining) is not advisable both in terms of performance but much more importantly can be unsafe to do so (it is discouraged by all official bodies). It would be far better and safer to have an electrician to fit some additional sockets where you need them. Alternatively you could run a high performance power cable from your existing socket to where you need it and then use a single high performance mains block with the required number of sockets to power your system. Unfortunately the CS929 is fixed with a 2m lead as standard but there are alternatives available (am sure forum members may be able to help with recommendations on this).

I hope that this helps.

Kind regards,

Darren
