Exposure XX better than Exposure 2010?

I've got an itch I can't scratch. I'm happier with my system than I have been for a long time but I can't help wondering what my Linn Kans would sound like with a better amp. I have read many times how well the Kans respond to Exposure and Naim amplification and I've seen an Exposure XX for sale (£395) minus what I would get for the 2010 I have currently.

Anyone with any experience of this amp care to comment?

I just about remember the XX? it must be old!. (Are you sure it's not the XV?) The early 90's Exposure amp didn't get much good ink from the press, mainly due to build rather than sound, if I remember right.

Safer upgrade would be add a matching 2010 power amp to your intergrated which will make bottom end much tighter. Having said that the XX still might do it! Can't you try it out first?

I have an Exposure pre/power combo, i think it's XV11/XX111 or something like that from the early 90's, never missed a beat and still sings. Looks as solid today as when i bought it.

I have an Exposure 19 pre/biamped Super 18 powers amongst my kit. The house sound was very similar to that of Naim in the same period (mid '90s). I can well envisage a good match to Linn Kans with Exposures of this era. I've not heard any newer Exposure kit so wouldn't like to comment on that.

See link below for info on adding 2010 power amp idea as suggested by Thaiman.

Thanks for posting that link. To be honest as my Linn Kans are bi wireable it just confirms to me that I shouldn't be thinking of upgrading. I doubt an Exposure power amp would make a huge difference.

Given how happy I am with my system it just means I will have to wait until a lot more funds are available for any significant improvements. I'll be getting the Dacmmagic and Squeezebox duet soon so playing with that should keep me happy for the time being.
